Giuseppina Bernardo

Giuseppina Cirillo Bernardo, 91, of East Haven, died peacefully on March 14, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Frank Bernardo. Giuseppina was born in Naples, Italy on November 28, 1934, a daughter of the late Giovanni and Rosa Volpe Cirillo.

Giuseppina worked at Gant Shirtmakers, Robby Len Fashions and later at Starter Sportswear as a sewing machine operator until she retired. She had a passion for cooking wonderful meals for her family and friends, watching cooking shows and Lifetime movies. What she loved most was spending time with her family.

Giuseppina was the loving mother of Rose (Paul) Albano, who was her primary caregiver and Susan (Michael) Persico. Sister of Rita Amato and the late Anna Petrone, Marie Mele, Francesco and Luigi Cirillo and her special sister-in-law Assunta Terrone. She was a loving nonna to Paul (Stephanie) Albano, Francesco Albano, Michael, Stefan and Joseph Persico. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews both in the US and Italy. Josephine was loved by all. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4-7pm in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Place. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00am in St. Michael Church-Blessed Michael McGivney Parish, 29 Wooster Place, New Haven. Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum.
