Gizella Hobor

Gizella Hobor (Salamon), Gizi, Anyu, or Mama, as her loved ones called her, was born on January 12, 1936, in Budapest, Hungary. Gizella was 1 of 8 children who grew up in the small town of Lankapuszta, Hungary and later Budapest, Hungary. At the age of 17, Gizella relocated to the United States. She met her husband Louis in New Jersey where they would create a beautiful life together. Later, Gizella and her husband moved to sunny South Florida to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Gizella passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on January 28, 2024. She is no longer suffering but is at peace with Jesus our Lord and Savior in heaven.

Gizella is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Louis of Port St. Lucie, FL, her loving daughter Susie (Richard) of Port St. Lucie, FL, her 3 granddaughters Jennifer (Matthew) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Kelly (Greg) of West Palm Beach, FL, and Becky (Shane) of Boynton Beach, FL, and 5 great grandchildren Thomas, Carter, Logan, Isla Marie, and Scarlett.

Gizella was a hard worker who took pride in all she did. She worked for Johnson and Johnson in New Jersey for 32 years. She was a dedicated member of the Hungarian community and loved her home country and formed many long-lasting friendships with those who shared this passion along with her. Keeping a tidy home was something she took pride in as well as her love for beautiful flowers and Hungarian fine porcelain, Herend. She particularly enjoyed finding the best sales at her favorite department stores, seeing, and exploring new places, and creating lasting memories with her loved ones. Gizella was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie, FL, where she would attend mass with her husband.

Our loving Mama was full of joy and kindness. She loved others and her family dearly. We will miss her greatly and will continue to remember and cherish all the beautiful memories shared with her. Fly high sweet one into Jesus’ arms.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, March 9th at St. Bernadette Catholic Church 350 NW California Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL 34986.
