I am sharing the obituary for Gladys D. Celey to honor her life and memory.
Gladys D. Celey (1937–2026)
Gladys D. Celey, 88, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026. Born on March 23, 1937, in San Angelo, Texas, to Marvin and Annie Daniel, Gladys attended San Angelo High School. In June 1953, she married her high school sweetheart, Barry F. Celey. As a Navy family, they traveled the world together during Barry’s military career.
Gladys dedicated 40 years to a career in banking. Above all, she loved God, followed by her family, her country, and the human race. She was a natural entertainer who found great joy in singing, performing, and comedy.
She was preceded in heaven by her husband, Barry; her parents, Marvin and Annie Daniel; her son, Steve; her granddaughter, Nikki; her great-great-granddaughter, Royalty; her three brothers, Bobby, Andy, and Dwayne Daniel; and her sister, Maurene Jones.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Celey and Joel Celey (Wendy); her sisters, Virginia Babb and Linda Hester; and many dearly loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Gladys was a proud grandmother of 5, a great-grandmother of 12, and was blessed to see 12 great-great-grandchildren.
We say goodbye with loving memories, grateful that she is at peace and no longer suffering.
