Gladys "Jean" Dozeman, age 92 of Holland, peacefully passed away on September 23, 2024 with family by her side.
Jean was born August 25, 1932 to Lloyd and Bentia Berrong in Ashbysburg, Kentucky. She moved to Holland at the age of 16 and worked at Heinz, where she met the love of her life Kenneth Dozeman. The two were married shortly after, on September 2, 1950. Jean and Ken spent many years traveling the world volunteering on mission trips which included missions to Albania, Hawaii, Alaska, and Arizona. They also enjoyed bus trips which took them to many European countries and throughout many states here in the US. She loved crafting, knitting, cross stitch and was a very talented seamstress. She made countless sweaters and dolls for children. Jean was also an incredible baker and was well known specifically for her famous chocolate chip cookies. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Jean was proceeded in death by her daughter, Judith Wyman, along with her ten siblings and two in-laws.
She is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Ken; her children, Janice (Rick) Berens, Debra (Douglas) Deleeuw, Mark (Elizabeth) Dozeman; son-in-law, Rick Wyman; grandchildren, Katey (Brandon) Thomson, Samantha (Ryan) Libby, Andy (Megan) Deleeuw, Charles Berens, Phillip (Beth) Deleeuw, Billy (Aida Alvacado) Dozeman; 7 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Jack (Sue) Dozeman, Ralph Holmes, Marcia Dozeman, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, September 30 at 11:00am at First Reformed Church, 630 State St. Holland. A one-hour visitation will take place prior to the service starting at 10:00am. Burial will take place at Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
