Gladys Johnson, passed away in Ellis, Kansas on November 13, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on August 18, 1931, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Huber) Gallison. She graduated from Ellis High School in 1949. On March 4, 1951 she married George E. Johnson at Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis.
Gladys embraced life with a spunky attitude and a good sense of humor that was recognized by all that knew her. She dedicated many years to being a loving homemaker, while also working the soda fountain at Fuller Drug Store in Ellis.
Throughout her life, she engaged joyfully in numerous activities, including participating in ladies golf and bowling leagues, always finding time to celebrate at family gatherings that were so important to her. Gladys was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church teaching Sunday School and Bible School as well as participating in Girls of Lutheran Faith (GOLF).
Her love for family was paramount, and she took immense pride in her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons, Randall and his wife Rose, and Ron and his wife Lauree, all of Ellis; her daughter, Rhonda McKenzie and her husband Monte of Minden, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Leana Johnson of Riley, Kansas; her two devoted sisters, Helen Kohlrus of Renton, Washington, and Grace Wall of Des Moines, Iowa, with whom she enjoyed the many trips and visits that brought them closer together. Gladys cherished her role as a grandmother to: Darren (Alyson) Johnson, Sherri (Jake) Rapp, Jill Fink, Jodi Torline, and Jason (Jacqui) Homewood, along with 11 great-grandchildren who adored her deeply. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Gallison; her husband, George E. Johnson on November 22, 1997; a son, Rodney Johnson; a grandson, Jarret Johnson; her brother, Clarence Gallison; and a sister, Irene Plomondon.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 18, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis. Burial will follow in Mt Hope Cemetery, Ellis. Services will also be available via Facebook Live found under the resources tab at www.keithleyfuneralchapels.com.
Visitation will be Sunday 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS 67637. Monday visitation will be at Christ Lutheran Church 9:00 AM until service time.
