Gladys Maebelle Lang (Mae) passed away April 25,2025 in Moses Lake, WA. She was 103 years old.
Mae was born on March 10, 1922 in Toccoa, GA. She had 9 siblings, 5 sisters and 4 boys, all now deceased. Mae grew up in Clayton, GA and graduated high school in 1941. She went on to Toccoa Falls Bible College and graduated 1943 with a degree in business. Mae met her future husband (Burton Lang) in Toccoa, GA in 1942 while standing on corner waiting for a bus to go back to the bible college. Burt just walked up and asked if she would like to have coffee. She accepted and they sat and talked, until she needed to return to the college. Burt asked can I see you again. She said yes. He was about to go to war. Mae moved to Charlestown WV in 1943 and stayed with her sister (Dora) where she worked for General Machinery Ordinance Corp as a machine operator boring nozzles for WWII war airplanes, just like rosy the Riveter. She waited until he came home from WWII and married him on July 4, 1945 in Blackstone, VA.

They moved to Georgia to be close to her parents. They started a family shortly after and had six children: Michael, Max, Barney, Dick, Becky, and David.

Her love of gardening was infectious. No one could produce vegetables like Mae. She had green
thumbs for sure. Every summer, families and friends would come by often and admire her large garden. She always sent a basket home with them. If it could be grown, she would grow it.

Mae is survived by nine grandkids: Dan Lang, Gregory Lang, Nicole Arredondo, Anthony Henricks, Justin Akerley, Emily Mane, Angela Iverson, Louisa Barajas, and Joe Lang.

She has 19 great grandchildren that she adores: Kajal Lang, Chloe Lang, Mateo Arredondo, Mia Arredondo, Bella Arredondo, Hazel Henricks, Hunter Henricks, Emma Akerley, Harper Akerley, Isabelle Barajas, Penelope Barajas, JJ Barajas, Maggie Barajas, Lavender Barajas, Olivia Iverson, Cole Iverson, Liam Iverson, Leo Lang, and Camille Lang.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 11:00 am. No reception will follow.
