James "Jim" Stephen Hostak, 87, of Burien, Washington, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025. He was born on June 21, 1938, in Seattle, Washington to Louis and Leona Hostak.

Jim proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army before beginning his career with the Washington State Liquor Control Board, where he worked until retirement. Following retirement, he enjoyed working at Doug Fox Parking three days a week, where his love of driving and connecting with people brought him great joy.

A devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Jim shared his life with his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary. His absence will also be most felt by his son Brad, daughter-in-law Sarah, his brother Don and sister-in-law Myrna and several nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Laurie, brother Robert, and his parents.

Jim had a lifelong passion for Husky football and was a season ticket holder for nearly 60 years; he never missed a game. He also enjoyed coin collecting, going for a drive, handing out dog bones to the many furry friends in his life, and he was always ready for ice cream.

Above all, Jim will be remembered for his humor, his dedication to family, and the joy he found in the presence of others. His warmth and presence will be deeply missed.
