Opelousas--A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Gladys Marie Lavergne on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church. Fr. Clint Trahan will officiate the Mass. Burial will follow in the St. Bridget Cemetery in Lawtell, La.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel from 8:00 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m.
Gladys, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away on November 10, 2025, at the St. Joseph Carpenter House in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was born on October 10, 1932, in Swords, Louisiana.
With a career that spanned 27 years as a touch-up artist at Marcan Industries, Gladys was known for her remarkable dedication and artistry. Her contributions to the workforce were a reflection of her commitment and passion. Beyond her professional achievements, she took immense pride in raising her children, a testament to her loving and nurturing nature.
Gladys was a very loving person, deeply devoted to her family. She leaves behind her cherished daughter, Jackie Romero (Timothy) of Broussard, along with her brothers, Jimmy Lavergne of Breaux Bridge and J.D. Lavergne of Lafayette. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty Marks of Sunset, Barbara Roberts of Breaux Bridge, and Ethel Wilson of Portland, Oregon.
Her legacy continues with her grandchildren, John Wesley Tilly (Judy) of Lafayette, Phillip Ryan Tilly (Tracie) of New Iberia, Hal Lavergne, Jr. (Kelsey) of Breaux Bridge, and Shannon Thibodeaux (Hubert) of Rayne. She was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, all of whom will carry her memory forward.
Gladys joins her beloved husband, Henry Lee Lavergne, and her son, Hal Jude Lavergne, in eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Felix Lavergne, Jesse Lavergne, Lawrence Lavergne, Jr., and Cornie Lavergne, as well as her sisters, Helen Godeaux and Cloritha Brown.
Gladys Marie Lavergne will be remembered for her unwavering love, kindness, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will always treasure the memories they shared with her.
Pallbearers will be John Wesley Tilly, Phillip Ryan Tilly, Gannon Ryder Tilly, Timothy Romero, Jimmy Lavergne, and J. D. Lavergne.
