Gladys was the cherished wife of the late Howard McCrory, with whom she shared 32 beautiful years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her father John Connor, her mother Arah Statham, her siblings Mary Lee Barrington, Jesse Mae Mills, Jimmy Dean Connor, and grandson Keith Aaron Neill III.
Her legacy continues through her daughter Barbara Fraze and husband Ron, her granddaughters Robin Payne and husband Sam, Sheila Graves and husband Kenny, and Chantel Clemons and husband Earl. Her great-granddaughters Brandy Corley and husband Blair, and Brittany Henderson and husband Scott, as well as her great-great-grandchildren Landon Yarber, (Brailey Wasik), Brooks Henderson, Rhyder Corley, Braden Carson and Jackson Corley, and her great-great-great-grandson Bowen Yarber, will forever hold her in their hearts. She leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Gladys also leaves behind a very special family friendship with Dave and Becky Spray, who became like a son and daughter to her. All will cherish her memory in their hearts for years to come.
After graduating from Hubbard High School in 1946, Gladys dedicated over 50 years to the medical field. She started her career at Hubbard Hospital and retired at the age of 86 from the medical office of Dr. Tone in Tyler, Texas. Her professional life was marked by compassion and a commitment to caring for others. She was kind, caring, smart, witty, spicy, feisty and had an unmatched zest for life. On 7/11/1947 she birthed her one and only daughter Barbara G. and was given the honorable name Mother. On 1/2/1965 she was officially given the name Nannie and began her legacy of the greatest grandmother that ever walked the face of this earth.
Gladys was a prayer warrior at heart, with a faith-filled life as a faithful member of Flint Baptist Church in Flint, TX. Her love for God, family, and friends was the cornerstone of her existence. Known for her heart of servitude, Gladys spent her days volunteering and serving others alongside her best friends. She was a woman of many interests, enjoying movies, playing mahjong, dominos, and other games, and was always ready for a new adventure. Whether attending concerts, traveling, or simply being on the go, Gladys embraced life with open arms. A true friend to all, Gladys's heart of gold and friendly demeanor meant she never met a stranger. Her passion for the Texas Rangers was unparalleled; she was an avid fan who relished watching every game and cherished the experience of seeing them play in person. Her days were also joyfully spent with her beloved dachshund, a great companion who she called Promise.
Gladys's life can be summed up by the scripture from Philippians 4: 6-7. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God." This was the way Gladys lived, she loved God deeply and knew He was the answer to everything. She was a good and faithful servant, planting the seed of faith in her generations to come while loving deeply and touching the lives of everyone she met leaving them all with the seed of Faith. She was an embodiment of love, friendliness, and faith, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. As we bid a farewell to Gladys, until we all reunite with her in God's heavenly place, we are reminded to live fully and love deeply, honoring her memory in the cherished moments we shared.
