Brundage Funeral Home - DillonAdele Pierce Rouse passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, three days after her 102nd birthday.
Adele was born in Butte, Montana on October 24, 1923 to Horse Prairie Ranchers Tom and Agnes (Kau) Pierce. Her early years were spent on the ranch which she loved. They always had good horses to ride and great neighbors to visit. She loved haying season with all of the many workers and excitement on the ranch. Adele had many happy memories of time spent with her brothers, Tom and Dick and her sister Lorrayne. Her father died at the age of 30 which left Agnes to run the ranch and raise her four children.
Adele attended Grant School until her brother Tom graduated from eighth grade and the family moved to Dillon. She graduated from eighth grade in Dillon and then attended Beaverhead County High School, graduating in 1942. After spending a year at home working on the ranch, she married Emory (Moose) Rouse. Five children were born to Emory and Adele; Pierce, Miriam, Clint, Ramona, and Todd.
Moose and Adele bought the Sunny Slope ranch in the Big Hole in 1948. Adele was a hard worker and was compassionate and loving to everyone she met. She had a servant's heart showing hospitality to anyone who stopped by the ranch. Many visitors stopped by at mealtime on purpose to enjoy a home cooked meal and delicious pies or cakes. Moose and Adele sold the ranch in 1986 and moved to Dillon.
Moose died in 1999. Adele lived on the farm outside of Dillon close to all of her children, remembering the wonderful years spent raising her children in the Big Hole. Adele was a lifelong member of St. Rose Parish.
Adele was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Emory), her brothers (Tom and Dick), her sister (Lorrayne Rebich), grandson Burke Glaus, and great granddaughter Josephine Curry.
Adele is survived by sons Pierce (Donna), Clint (Mary), and Todd (Sara Bennett), daughters Miriam Rouse and Ramona (Dave) Glaus. She is also survived by seven grand-children, Grant (Sonya) Glaus, Chrissy Rouse, Rob (Keren) Rouse, Lindsay (Troy) Buhr, Darann (Rob) Curry, Alex (Carson) Hritsco, and Paige Rouse (Kameron Rauser), and fourteen great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the Bee Hive staff and Honey Bee Hospice for their care and support for Adele during her short time there. Memorials may be made to the YMCA, 75 Swenson Way, Dillon, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
A celebration of life will be held at Brundage Funeral Home on November 18, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at St. Rose Family Center.
