Funeral services for Gladys Sackett, 83 year old Buffalo resident who passed away Friday morning at the Johnson County Health Care Center, will be held Wednesday, September 17th at 2:00 p.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Pastor Paul Gilbert officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Donations in Gladys' memory may be made to the Bread of Life Food Pantry at 178 S. Main in Buffalo. Online condolences may be made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com.
Gladys Maxine Sackett was born on December 17, 1941 in Anita, Iowa to George and Odetta Harrison. She started school in Anita and later moved to Ainsworth, Nebraska. As a young girl she moved with her family to Clearmont, Wyoming where she attended high school. She was married on August 12, 1959 in Casper, Wyoming to Loren Sackett and they made their home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for two years while Loren was attending trade school. In 1961 they moved back to Buffalo where Gladys worked at the Safeway store. She was a clerk at Alabam's and later for D.J.'s Grocery where she worked until 2006 when she retired. She continued living in Buffalo until her death.
Gladys loved fishing anywhere there was water. She was an avid scrapbooker and enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Loren Sackett of Buffalo: one son Darwin Shane Sackett and his wife Shawna of Buffalo; one daughter Victoria (Sackett) Hampton and her husband Bill of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada; one brother Paul Harrison and his wife Raylene of Hawaii; two sisters Rosie Coleman and her husband Marvin of Casper, Wyoming and Florence "Sis" Bredenberg also of Casper; three grandchildren, Stephanie Seward, Brandon Blakely, Amanda Burd; nine great-grandchildren and one great- great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
