Gladys Violet (Wolf) Schulz was born on March 7, 1929 near
Giddings, Texas to her parents, John and Hulda (nee Walther) Wolf. She was baptized on March 17, 1929 by Rev. Lugenheim at Bethany Lutheran Church in Greens Creek. She was confirmed on April 26, 1942 by Rev. Paul Eifert also at Bethany Lutheran Church. She attended Parochial School at Bethany for seven years, one year at Public School in Good Hope and then graduated from Giddings high School in 1946. After graduating, she worked for a short time in Dallas.
Violet was married to Leroy Schulz on January 19, 1947 by Rev. Paul Eifert at Bethany Lutheran. After their marriage, they lived in Vernon, Texas, Leroy's hometown. Here their son Danny was born in 1948. In 1952, they moved to Rockdale, Texas where Leroy was employed at Alcoa. Most of her married life was spent as wife, mother, and homemaker. After Danny went to college, she worked at the Rockdale City Office and later at Rockdale State Bank.
Shortly before Leroy's retirement, they moved to Giddings to prepare for retirement and helping her aging parents. They enjoyed small time ranching until Leroy's health problems became such that they felt the need to move to Temple in 1999. During the years she, Leroy and Danny were always active members in the Lutheran church wherever they lived. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, working with the youth in Walther League, the Women's Organization, Caring Ministry and the Braille Center.
Those preceding her in death were her husband, Leroy; her parents, John and Hulda Wolf; one great granddaughter, Emma Kate Kesner; her grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Violet is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sharon Schulz of Giddings; her granddaughter, April Kesner and her husband Steve and their children, MacKenzie and Tanner of Georgetown; her grandson, Justin Schulz and his wife, Misty and their children, Jordyn, Jeremy, and Russel of Granbury. She is also survived by her brother, Allen Wolf and his wife, Dolores of Giddings, and her nieces and nephew, Sandra Mueller and Melissa Alford and Clayton Wolf along with their spouses and families and a host of friends and kin.
Pallbearers for Violet will be Robert Timmerman, Jimmy Luecke, Timothy Stengel, Willie Patridge, David Schulz, and Rodney Winkler. Honorary pallbearers will be Sandra Mueller, Clayton Wolf, and Melissa Alford.
