Gladys Silva of Abilene passed away Friday, May 27, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at North's Funeral Home Thursday June 2, 2022 at 10am. Burial to fallow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday June 1, 2022 at North's Funeral Home from 5-7pm.
Gladys was born December 9, 1939 in Caldwell, TX to Louisa Medina and Carlos Galindo. As a small girl her parents traveled to west Texas looking for a better live. They settled in Munday Texas. Gladys worked in the fields and continued to go to school where she graduated a Mundy Mogul. That's where she met the love of her life and then they got married July 6, 1959. A year later they moved to Chicago Illinois where they had two children. Remigio Jr and Sylvia. They lived in Chicago for 12 years then decided to go back Abilene Texas. She help her husband run their body shop "Silva's body shop" and also operated "Fiesta ballroom". Every Sunday she sang in Saint Vincent church choir until she no longer could. After her husband retired they would watch cowboy movies together.
She was proceeded in death by her husband; Remigio Silva Sr., parents, her brothers George, Carlos and Ricky, her son Remigio Silva Jr.
She is survived by her daughter Sylvia Martinez and her husband Richard Martinez, grandsons Remigio Silva III and wife Stephanie, Andrew Silva, Adam Cantu and wife Macy, and her only granddaughter Amanda Cantu Gutierrez and husband Kevin her sister Carmen Galvan and brother Rudy Galindo all of Bryan Texas. Also she is survived by 8 great grand children.
