Gladys Spurlin

G. Jeanette Spurlin, 85, of Ogallala, passed away on her birthday, October 4, 2025, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.

Jeanette was born on October 4, 1940, in Denver, Colorado, to LeRoy Russell and Ella Kandis (Mosbarger) Mast. She attended school in the Denver area and grew up in a large family.

Jeanette married Duane Russell "Shorty" Spurlin in Greeley, Colorado. She managed a grocery store and later, together with her husband, operated apartment complexes and storage units in several eastern Colorado communities. Following Duane's death in 2003, Jeanette continued to make her home in eastern Colorado, before moving to Keith County, Nebraska, in 2021.

Jeanette loved animals and was especially fond of her dogs, who were constant companions throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; daughters, Charlene and Rebecca; infant sister, Elaine Elizabeth Mast; and her parents.

Survivors include her siblings, Aloyce Smith, Myrtle Sparks, Gail (Paul) McCoy, Larry (Ginny) Mast, Marlene (Bob) Hathaway, and Dale (Pam) Mast; along with many other nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A private graveside service will be held at Johnstown Cemetery in Colorado, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
