Gladys L. Steerman

Gladys L. Steerman age 83 of Garrettsville passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Monday June 10, 2024 at her residence. She was born on Aug. 31, 1940 in Caldwell, OH the daughter of the late William Herbert Burkhart and Bessie Chloe (Morris) Burkhart. Gladys has lived in Nelson Twp for most of her life, and graduated from James A. Garfield High School in the Class of 1958. She married the love of her life, Clinton Lee Steerman on Aug. 16, 1958 and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage together until his death on Oct. 31, 2022. Gladys worked as a bus driver for Garrettsville Schools for over 10 years. She also worked as talented cake decorator for Kroger in Ravenna and IGA in Garrettsville. Gladys was a long-time member of the House of Prayer Church in Garrettsville and she enjoyed doing ceramics, gardening, canning vegetables, and sewing. Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clinton, 1 sister: Darlene Steerman, and 1 granddaughter: Peggy Sommers.
She is survived by: 6 daughters: Lillian Stropki of Columbus, OH, June Cummings (Greg Dienes) of Chardon, OH, Teresa & Kenny Warren of Leavittsburg, OH, Joyce Perry (Leroy Kellar) of Garrettsville, OH, Laura Steerman of Garrettsville, OH, Dana & Alex Duderstadt of Windham, 1 son: Steve Steerman (Colleen Nottingham) of Garrettsville, 1 brother: Fred & Chris Burkhart of Garrettsville, 11 grandchildren: Christy & (Nick C.) Dalpiaz, Danny & Betsey Reed, Nick (Nichole) Reed, Angie Gunnoe, Carrie Steerman, Jeromy Steerman, Dustin (Bessy) Ellison, Cindy Berg, Mike Berg, Amy (Mike) Sommers, Chrissy (Chris L.) McCoy, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Thursday June 13, 2024 at 1:00pm with Pastor Tom Holbrook officiating. Calling hours will be from 11:00am - 1:00pm. She will be laid to rest at Harrington Cemetery in Nelson Twp, OH.
