Douglas Reed Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 6, 2026.
Douglas "Doug" Reed passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, in Ravenna, Ohio, at the age of 67. Born on October 29, 1958, Doug was a lifelong resident of his beloved hometown of Newton Falls, a place that held countless memories and moments close to his heart.
Doug graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1977. Afterward, he began working at Thomas Steel in Warren, later taking his career path to Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, serving the majority of his 25 years there as a pathology assistant.
Doug was an avid motorcycle racer in his younger years. His love for sports extended to the baseball diamond, where he found joy in coaching and umpiring local games. His enthusiasm for sports was not just limited to the field as he was also a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, often found cheering on his teams from the comfort of his recliner.
Doug's presence in Newton Falls was a constant one, living his entire life across from the city park. He experienced the time of railroad tracks crossing his street, witnessed the Little Tigers football team run seemingly endless laps around the baseball field, the vibrant celebrations of the of the 4th of July festival, and so much more, all from his front lawn. These simple pleasures of community life were sources of great happiness for him.
Doug is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Reed; his mother, Anne Reed (Bretzik); his brother, Dennis Reed; and his sister-in-law, Connie Reed (Sexton). He is survived by his son, Levi Reed, and his niece, Lori Saxton (Reed).
Honoring Doug's wishes, no services will be held.
