Michael J. Smolak

Michael J Smolak, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, at the age of 81. He was born on April 21, 1944, to Adeline and Michael G. Smolak in Buffalo, NY. Mike was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend whose life reflected love, service, and quiet strength.

Michael is a 1963 graduate of Newton Falls High School, known for his athletic abilities, especially basketball. A member of St. Joseph's church. He proudly served in the United States Air Force before beginning a long career with General Motors.

He is survived by his children, Sherri Smolak, Chris Smolak, and Jenna Kifer; and his 2 grandchildren, Jacob and Savanna Smolak.

Mike loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, bird watching, boating, motorcycling, and gardening. He was also an enthusiastic cook, known for his extensive collection of cookbooks.

A man of few words, Mike expressed himself through kindness, hard work, and dedication to those he loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Let us honor his memory by finding joy in the simple things, by nurturing our relationships, and by making each day count. Mike's final resting place will in the family plot in St. Michaels Cemetery in Newton Falls, Ohio, with military honors presented by the United States Air Force and the Newton Falls Veterans Honor Guard. Rest in peace, Mike; your enduring spirit will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, Ohio where a service will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Zachary Coulter officiating.
