Gladys Weiland

Gladys Weiland, a devoted wife, extraordinary mother, and pillar of strength for her family, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on October 13, 2025, in Jefferson, Georgia, at the age of 82.
Born on May 7, 1943, in New York City, New York, to the late Leo and Madlen Nejezchleba, Gladys carried the warmth and passion of her heritage throughout her life.
Gladys greatest accomplishment and enduring passion was her family. She dedicated her life to creating a home filled with unconditional love, infectious laughter, and a fierce sense of belonging. Of all her roles- wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother-these were the ones she held most dear. Gladys was always immensely proud of her loved ones and beamed with joy over their latest achievements.
Her hands found their greatest joy in the kitchen, where she lovingly preserved her Czech heritage through food. Gladys was famous for her cherished recipes, including Czech Bread Dumplings, Savory Red Cabbage, and Roast Pork, dishes that brought everyone together and served as a delicious foundation for countless family gatherings.
Gladys was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene "Cookie" Weiland, her cherished daughter, Trish Velardi, and her loving parents, Leopold and Madlen Nejezchleba.
She leaves behind her grateful and loving children: Gene Weiland and spouse Joann Weiland of Johns Creek, Georgia; Michael Weiland, Sr and spouse Jacqueline Weiland of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and Carrie Weiland Hicks and spouse Thomas Hicks of Jefferson, Georgia. Her legacy of love will continue through her cherished grandchildren, Michael Weiland, Jr., Ryan Weiland, Brittnee Weiland, Kyle Weiland, William Hicks, Andrew White, and her beloved great-granddaughter, Olivia Weiland. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Nejezchleba, and her beloved nieces and nephews.
Service Details
A private service will be held for the immediate family. A Celebration of Life to honor Gladys's memory will take place at a later date.
In honor of her generous spirit, and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, an organization Gladys was passionate about and supported throughout her life.
