Gladys Wibbelt, our cherished Mom, made her way home peacefully on August 08, 2025 in Stuart, Florida. She shared 66 years of marriage to her beloved husband, Richard Wibbelt, who passed away in December 2021.
Born to the late Gladys and John Dare of Little Ferry, NJ. She was the youngest of five children. Preceding her in death were her siblings, Dorothy Weigand, Lillian Dare, Arthur Dare and Eleanor Dare.
Gladys was a 1952 graduate of the Hackensack School of Nursing. She started her career in the ER department of Hackensack Hospital in NJ. In 1955 Gladys and Richard were married and made their home in Denville, NJ. While raising six children she also worked as a Registered Nurse at several medical offices in Morris County NJ. She was also a substitute school nurse for many years at schools in Denville and Rockaway Townships, the Morris County Vocational School and the Morris Hills Regional School District.
In 1989 they moved to Port St Lucie, FL where they created many fond memories with family, friends and neighbors.
Mom's memory will be treasured by her family. Patricia & Randy Michael of Springfield, MA. Karen & Clifford Smalley of Bloomingdale, NY. Rick Wibbelt of Bushkill, PA. Kevin Wibbelt of Branchville, NJ. Mary & Greg Shayka of Marshalls Creek, PA and Kathleen & Danny Seneca of New Tripoli, PA.
She was the proud Nana to Stacey, Kelly, Ryan, Robin, Kyle, Amber, Clayton,Tyler, Quinn, Bill, Kevin, Tom, Matthew, Sarah, Joseph, Andy and Nicole. Great Nana to Billy, Harrison, Megan, Mikayla, Hunter, Kai, Violet, Shea, Luca, Benjamin, Nico and Kelsey.
A special thank you to Treasure Coast Hospice who delivered comfort and care with such grace. To the staff at Stuart Rehabilitation and Healthcare, you took care of Mom as if she was your own family. Thank you will never be enough.
