Glaskor Douglas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Doherty Funeral Homes, Inc. - Pike Creek on Nov. 13, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Glaskor Douglas, Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, left us peacefully on November 10, 2025.
Born on June 5, 1941, in Darlington, South Carolina. He attended Hartsville public schools where he spent his youth. Joining the tail end of the Great Migration North, Glaskor moved to New York City, where he met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Thornton. Their love story blossomed into a beautiful 60-year marriage, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Her devotion to Glaskor was an inspirational extension of our heavenly father's grace, and an example of enduring love for us all to aspire.
Upon settling in Glassboro, New Jersey, Glaskor was a proud and dedicated father to three children: Darren Douglas and his wife Linda, Melissa Jarratt and her husband Warren, and Christopher Douglas and his wife Lourdes. He treasured his role as a father and held close the hearts of his children and grandchildren: Casey Douglas (Amanda), Logan Rudy (Luke), Clayton Douglas (Jada), Hunter Jarratt (Jessica), Parker Jarratt, Mateo Douglas, and Emilio Douglas. He was especially fond of his beloved great-granddaughter, Elle Jordan Rudy, who brought immense joy to his life.
In addition to his immediate family, Glaskor is survived by his siblings: Ann Holman, Carrie Lee Johnson, Charles Douglas, Brenda Davis, James (Kim) Douglas, Wilhelm (Butch) Douglas, Arnese Douglas, Annette Douglas, and Carolyn Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glaskor Sr and Bertha Lee and beloved siblings, Loretta Hale, Gladys Samuel, and Franklin Douglas.
A man of deep faith, Glaskor's love for Jesus was the foundation of his life. An unwavering faith guided all his decisions and served as a constant source of strength. A desire to serve, led to roles as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Prison and Nursing Home Ministries, along with any tasks to further the cause of Christ. He passionately shared his love for Christ with everyone he met, always eager to inspire others by the manner in which he lived his life. His infectious spirit and strong convictions left a lasting impact on those around him.
Throughout his life, Glaskor worked diligently for numerous employers, always striving to provide for his family. His strong work ethic and dedication were evident in everything he did, and he set an example of perseverance and commitment.
Glaskor will be remembered not only for his devotion to family and faith but also for his warmth, humor, and kindness. He had a unique ability to touch hearts and uplift spirits, making everyone feel loved.
A celebration of Glaskor's life will be held at Willowdale Chapel Jennersville Campus, 111 Vineyard Way, West Grove, PA 19390, where family and friends may visit from 10AM-11AM and a funeral service will begin at 11AM. Interment will follow in Union Hill Cemetery, Kennett Square, PA. All who knew and loved him are welcome to join in honoring his remarkable journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Chester County Hospital Foundation, 701 E. Marshall St., West Chester, PA 19380, https://www.pennmedicine.org/giving/chester-county-hospital-foundation/donate, to honor the wonderful care received during his last days.
Glaskor Douglas, Jr. will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to inspire generations to come.
