Glen Edward Blad, Sr., a cherished family man and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at the age of 86 in Mishawaka, Indiana. Born on January 16, 1939, in Grovertown, Indiana, Glen's life was marked by his unwavering love for his family and his passion for life.
Glen's journey began as the son of the late Ruben and Dorothy Blad. He grew up surrounded by his siblings, the late Penny, Hazel, Virginia, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. Glen's formative years in Grovertown laid the foundation for the man he would become-loving, and always ready to share a laugh.
After completing his education, Glen embarked on a career that would span over two decades. He dedicated 25 years of his life to Bosch Industries as a welder, where his skill and work ethic were well-regarded. His retirement in 2020 marked the end of a professional chapter but also the beginning of a time filled with joy and relaxation, which he had so rightfully earned.
Glen's heart was always fullest when he was surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by the mother of his children Oralia Blad; loving children, Linda (Don) Lagodney, Glen (Dawn) Blad, Jr., Nancy (JR) Ludington and Grace (Todd) Cossey; second wife Gloria Blad; stepchildren Rick Wallock, Tina (Mike) Meersman, Shari Mathis, Marci (Derrick) Messer and Brian (Mindy) Blad; his devoted wife, Shelly Blad; stepsons Michael (Stephanie) Lent and Brendon Lent, respectively; and his brother Eugene (Sharon) Blad of Warsaw. His legacy continues through his sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the values and love he instilled in them.
A man of many interests, Glen's zest for life was evident to all who knew him. He was the life of the party, often found dancing to his favorite country tunes or enjoying the great outdoors while camping. His love for his family extended beyond borders, cherishing his family in Mexico and often found humming along to the vibrant rhythms of Mexican music. Glen's infectious spirit and loving nature made every gathering memorable, and his absence will be deeply felt at family and friends gatherings.
