Glen Burleson Brewer, 92, of Lubbock and former longtime resident of O’Donnell, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Burley was born on March 9, 1933, in Lubbock, Texas, to the late Henry Burleson Brewer and Elsie Lee (Blessing) Brewer.
He attended O’Donnell schools and graduated with his senior class. Following high school, he attended Texas Tech Technical Institute, currently Texas Tech University. After attending Tech for a short time, Burley joined the United States Navy on August 15, 1951, serving during the Korean Conflict and was discharged on August 14, 1959.
He married the love of his life, Bertha Marie Cook on June 12, 1952, in Draw, Texas. They enjoyed over 70 years of married life together. Out of this union three children were born, Pamela Rea, Thedo Burleson, and Glenda Jill.
Burley was a dedicated cotton farmer for over 50 years in Lynn County, before retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge AF & AM #1187 for over 70 years achieving the title of Master Mason, and a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in O’Donnell. During their entire lifetime, Burley & Bertha were partners in farming, chemical and fertilizer distribution. They both loved to travel and went on many trips with friends. A special place was their cabin in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
Those left behind to honor and cherish Burley’s memory include three children: Pamela Rea (Anthony) Guettner of San Marcos, Thedo Burleson “Burley” (Beth) of O’Donnell, and Glenda Jill Brewer (Dave Richmond) of San Marcos; his 6 grandchildren: Anchen Gregg (Tommy), Amber Owens, Rebecca (Jessica) Brewer, Bonnie (Ryan) Halbert, Keiley Harrison, and Rhett (Patricia) Harrison; his 7 great grandchildren: Anthony Gilley, Austin Owens, Jada Owens, Tommie Michelle Halbert, Hattie Mae Halbert, Marley Harrison and Stevie Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bertha in 2023; a grandchild, Bobbie Michelle Brewer; and a great-grandchild, Cody Latham.
The visitation for Burley will be held from 12 Noon to 4 PM on Friday, October 17, 2025, in the Oak Crest Suite of Combest Family Funeral Home, 2210 Broadway in Lubbock.
