Glen Bullion Obituary
Glen Bullion Jr, 89, of Vilonia, AR, formerly of Dell Rapids, SD, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at his daughter's home under hospice care. His Memorial Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Kahler-Brende Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service.
Glen R. Bullion Jr. was born in Conway, Arkansas, the son of Ralph Bullion Sr. and Ruby Bullion (Fulmer). Glen grew up in Conway where he spent his childhood with his brother and sister and graduated from Conway High School in 1952. After high school he joined the Army where he was active duty in 1961 and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis in Ft. Rucker, Alabama. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 31st, 1962. During this time, he met the love of his life Roslyn Merritt in Conway, AR.
Glen and Roslyn married on March 18th, 1961, at the First Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. They had four children: Marsha Blyn, Bretta Shawn, Joseph Rustin, and Heather Marie, and resided between Arkansas and Arizona. He and his wife moved from Phoenix, AZ to Dell Rapids, SD in 1991. They later moved to Sioux Falls, SD after retirement, and finally back home to Vilonia, AR.
Glen was not just a husband, father, grandfather, or great-grandfather. He was a confidante and best friend to all of us, who had the most love for his faith and his family. Everyone who knew him felt his warmth and his humorous spirit. He was our "Pa".
Pa was smart, witty, kind-hearted, and when you hugged him, his smell was always that of cherry pipe tobacco and sawdust. He was a carpenter for most of his life, but he wasn't just any carpenter; he was an artist with any wood project he began. He would make anything you could dream up come to life with as little as a toothpick. Pa was passionate about sailing-especially in San Diego on a sailboat named "Sueño" (Dream). He also had his pilot's license and a love for flying. Other hobbies he enjoyed were camping, golfing, flying his model airplanes, and playing all sorts of games with his family. He was the best at horseshoes and croquet, and eventually fell in love with playing bean bags. Pa was the partner you not only wanted but needed on your team.
Pa called all his girls, daughters and granddaughters, "Shug" -because he said they were "sweet like sugar." He was the proudest of his son Russ and all his grandsons. He loved his wife, our "Nana", with all his heart, and is someone who inspired each of us every day.
Glen passed away peacefully in his sleep next to his wife Roslyn in his daughter's home with family. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill, his sister Bobbi, his son Russ, and his son-in-law Todd.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years Roslyn Bullion (AR); his daughters Blyn (Allen) Crisp (SD), Bretta Norden (AZ), Heather (Keith) Lunstra (SD); his grandchildren Scott (Samantha) Hanisch, Austin Lunstra, Jason (Katy) Crisp, Nikki (Greg) Woitte, Cassie Bullion, Tanner (Audrey) Lunstra, Mateya Lunstra, and Alexis Lunstra; his great-grandchildren Madison, Eden, Micah, Jackson, Allie, Jaydon, Avery, Austin, Aubriella, Laila, Emma, and Amelia Jae.
