Glen C. Hecht, 92, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 9, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Glen was born on October 15, 1933, in Strain Japan, Missouri to the late George Hecht and Gertrude "Gertie" (Mesger). He grew up in Strain Japan and attended grade school there before graduating from Sullivan High School, class of 1951. Shortly after graduation, Glen enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served during the Korean War and was primarily stationed in Japan.
After his honorable discharge, Glen returned home and began civilian life working at a box manufacturer in Pacific, Missouri. After several years, he took a job with Prairie Farms as a delivery driver. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Pauline Lawrence. They were united in marriage on November 30, 1962, and Glen lovingly embraced her two boys, James "Ron" and Kenneth "Kenny," as his own. They built their life together in Sullivan.
Glen later worked as an electrician at the Pea Ridge Mines, remaining there until the mine closed and he retired. Retirement didn't slow him much. He often stayed busy transporting vehicles for Feese Automotive, happy to stay on the move.
Together, Glen and Pauline enjoyed traveling, especially their trips to Branson and their winter stays in Arizona. Still, every time they returned to Sullivan, Glen would smile and say, "There's no place like home." At home, they were active members of the local VFW and enjoyed many hours of fellowship there.
Glen loved attending car shows and took great pride in his own 1970 Monte Carlo and his '78 Chevy square-body truck. He had a quick wit, a quirky charm, and a grin that gave him away every time. Some of his favorite moments were simple ones, like swapping stories over breakfast or lunch with his buddies at Denny's or Country Skillet.
Glen is survived by his two step-sons, James "Ron" Politte and wife Debra of Defiance, Missouri and Kenneth "Kenny" Politte and wife Vicki of Sullivan, Missouri; a special niece, Janice Landwehr and husband Mel of Sullivan, Missouri; six grandchildren: Kurt Politte of Union, Missouri, Jason Politte and wife Terri of Floristell, Missouri, Matthew Politte and wife Mina of Wentzville, Missouri, Micah Politte of Sullivan, Missouri, David Politte and wife Kelly, and Jan Blankenship of Sullivan, Missouri; 13 great – grandchildren: Nicholas, Zachary, Trey, Gabby, Mia, Isabella, Eli, Chazeray, Kennedy, Carter, Henry, Kacelyn, and Nevaeh; five great – great grandchildren: Kale, Kori, Carson, Locksley and Roderick; a great niece, Amy Gozia and husband Donnie of Sullivan, Missouri; a great nephew, Greg Landwehr and wife Wendy of Sullivan, Missouri; his breakfast buddies; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline Hecht; his parents, George and Gertie Hecht; and a brother, Gerald Hecht.
Funeral Services will be 1 PM, Thursday, November 13, 2025 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Tim Privatsky officiating. Interment will follow at the IOOF Memorial Cemetery – with full military honors.
