Glen Roe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home on Sep. 13, 2024.
Glen David (Bud) Roe, 81, of Clendenin, WV, lost his battle with dementia on August 27, 2024.
He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, on May 11, 1943, the son of Bonnie Lee Starcher Roe Taylor and Glen Dalton Roe (who died before Bud was born). They moved to Clendenin when he was small and was raised by his mom and dad, Earrie R Taylor.
After graduating from Clendenin High School Class of 1960, he entered the field of welding/pipeline. Bud was a proud member of Local 798 Pipeline Union of Tulsa, OK from which he reluctantly retired in 2012. His work afforded him many adventures including installation of the Alaska Pipeline in the 1970s and the pipeline through the Panama Canal in the early 1980s. He worked in almost every state in the US and Africa and India.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Erma Lea Anderson Roe, whom he married on September 18, 1971. They lived in Clendenin until 2016 at which time they moved to Charlotte/Matthews where they had been residents since, while still making regular trips to their favorite place "the camp" in Webster County, West Virginia. They most recently moved to a retirement community In Matthews, then Bud moved to Cadence Senior Living (memory care unit) in Mint Hill, to whom, along with Bayada in home therapy dept and Hospice, we give our eternal gratitude for the compassionate, professional, loving care they provided.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Glen Dalton Roe, Earrie R Taylor, Bonnie Lee Taylor; In-laws, Walter and Rose Anderson; sister-in-law, Carol Blake; brother-in-law, Richard Anderson; special family friends, Mayford and Hettie Jackson.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Smailes(Bob) and Midge Forwood (Dan); sister-in-law, Betty Ware;daughter, Kristina Lea Roe and spouse, Larry Doherty; grandchildren, Cameron Doherty (Mikayla Powell), Bailey Doherty, Hannah Humphreys (Jeremy); great-grand children, Wayland Doherty and Baby Humphreys coming March 2025; special family friends, Al and Cathy (Jackson) Rock, and James (Speedy) Shamblin.
He is also survived by a myriad of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and was known as "The Candy Man" for his always plentiful, pockets full of Reese Cups, in addition to many cherished family friends.
Bud was a kind, quiet yet funny, mischievous soul who loved to read, fish, and spend time outdoors and with those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who know him. His daughter's friends often referred to him as "the Marlboro Man", so in typical Bud Roe fashion, he wishes to be cremated and placed in his favorite spot by the river. No service or hoopla to be made, as he didn't like crowds or attention, in fact, this obituary would be too much, in his opinion.
If you would like to do something in his honor, please donate books, money, or time to your local library.
