UPDATE: LOCATION OF VISITATION HAS BEEN CHANGED TO MT. OLIVE BAPTIST CHURCH
Glen Arne Steenbergen, 75, of
Russellville, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 3, 1950, to Gerald and Mattie (Westgard) Steenbergen, who preceded him in death. Glen grew up in Russellville alongside his sisters, Gayla Steenbergen and Gale Schaffner.
Glen graduated from Russellville High School in 1968, where he excelled in both baseball and basketball. His athletic talent and strong work ethic took him to Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.
While completing his degree, he played catcher for the baseball team and met his wife Jackie. Their partnership became the foundation of a devoted family and a lifetime of shared accomplishments. Glen was united in marriage to Jacquline Marie Franken on December 28, 1974, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tipton, Missouri.
Following college, Glen built a distinguished career in banking with the Farmers Bank of Lohman. He rose through the ranks with steady leadership and sound judgment, ultimately serving as Bank President until his retirement in 2016. Even in retirement, he continued to contribute his wisdom and insight as a member of the Board of Directors.
In addition to his banking career, Glen held a deep and lasting connection to agriculture. He operated a cattle farm throughout his life, beginning in partnership with his father and later expanding into his own operation. He took great pride in tending to the herd, working the land, and maintaining the equipment and property that symbolized generations of hard work.
Glen was raised and baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Russellville and remained a member for most of his life. His faith, humility, and quiet steadiness shaped the way he approached every responsibility and relationship. He was a trusted and respected member of the community, serving on the local school board, and spearheading efforts to enhance the community's baseball field. He was the stalwart leader of his family and a pillar of his community.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Steenbergen, of Russellville; and their three children: Brendon Steenbergen (Mary Amanda), Columbia; Collin Steenbergen (Susan), Russellville; and Abby Hartman (Bryan), O'Fallon, MO. Glen was a proud grandfather to Freddy and Phillip Steenbergen; Noah, Gabriel, Jorah, and Kira Steenbergen; and JD, Guy, Mattie, and Ansley Hartman. His grandchildren were a constant source of joy and brought him comfort and bright moments even in his final days. Glen siblings included Gayla Steenbergen, Russellville; and Gale Schaffner (Jon), Jefferson City.
Glen will be remembered as a quiet and rational voice in business and at home. He had a love for sports, a fondness for a good meal, and an appreciation for a good joke. Above all, he cherished his family and the simple, meaningful routines of a life well lived.
