Glen R. Wingate

Glen R. Wingate, 88, passed away on January 30, 2026. He was born on March 24, 1937, the youngest of nine children, and was raised on a working farm. He served in the United States Navy and went on to build a life as an inventor and a businessman.
Glen met the love of his life, Janice, in a movie theater. They married shortly after - and it was a love story that lasted 68 years.
Glen was a man whose faith was expressed through action. He was a protector and a patriarch in the truest sense - someone who didn't wait for permission to do the right thing. He opened his home, he gave of himself, and he did it without fanfare.
He had an adventurous spirit and a sense of humor that never quit. He made people laugh - not as a performance, but because joy was simply part of how he moved through the world. He took life seriously without ever taking himself too seriously.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Wingate; his children, Cynthia Johnson and her husband Kelly, Stephanie Tilley and her husband Mark, and John Wingate and his wife Veronica; his grandchildren, Bradley Slimp, Calvin Johnson, Steven Johnson, Morgan McDowell, Kelsey Hamilton, Drake Tilley, and Grae Wingate; numerous great-grandchildren; and a legacy of love that will outlast all of us. He will be deeply missed.
