Glenda Carter, a beloved wife, cherished daughter, devoted mother, and treasured Nana, passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 29, 2025, in Covington, Georgia, at the age of 73. Born on July 21, 1951, in Clarkesville, Georgia, Glenda's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and community.
Glenda is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, William James "Butch" Carter Jr., and her loving mother, Colleen Hudson. Her legacy continues through her two daughters, Stephanie Carter and Kelly Carter, and her cherished granddaughters, Kennedy Carter, Kaylee Carter-Brodnax, and Natalie Henry. She is also survived by her sister, Arlene Addison, and several beloved nieces and nephews. Glenda was preceded in death by her father, Arvil Addison.
Glenda spent her career in customer service, working at Komatsu until the company relocated and Georgia Heart Specialists until she retired. She was always known for her dedication and unwavering support. Her infectious smile and kind spirit made her a friend to everyone she met, a quality admired by all that knew her.
A proud member of the Central Church in Covington, GA, for 24 years, Glenda was deeply committed to her faith and community. She derived great joy from her time spent with her church's small group, where she frequently enjoyed coffee and fellowship. Glenda's love for camping, the Atlanta Braves, and the Georgia Bulldogs was well known, and she enjoyed sharing these passions with family and friends.
In her younger years, she loved vacationing at the beach, and later in life, she found peace and tranquility in the mountains, places that always brought her joy and happiness. Glenda was known for her love of crafting and sewing, and she enjoyed watching cooking shows in her leisure time.
Visitation will be held at Central Church in Covington, GA, on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by a funeral service from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Glenda's remarkable life.
Glenda Carter will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, Nana, and friend. Her selflessness, warmth, and unfaltering commitment to her loved ones leave a legacy that will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
