Glenda Myrtle Roberts Hacker

Glenda Myrtle Roberts Hacker passed away peacefully from this earthly experience on May 4, 2024, in Roy, Utah. She was born at Bixby Knolls Hospital on July 12, 1943, in Long Beach, California. She is the oldest of four children: Marvin Edward Roberts, Glendon LeRoy Roberts, and Lorna June Roberts who were born to Willis Singleton Roberts and Glenda June Belcher.

ln her youth, Glenda spent a good portion of her time at the beach in Southern California. She also enjoyed spending time with her extended family at local parks. Upon graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, she secured employment to help her mother with the household income. She had fascinating experiences working for the DEA in Long Beach and the Presiding Bishopric in Salt Lake City. A couple of highlights of her younger years included singing with the Grandland Singers and serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Florida.

Glenda met her husband, Harold Henry Hacker, at a singles fireside at UCLA in Los Angeles, California. After a brief courtship, Harold asked Glenda to marry him on July 4, 1973, near the East Long Beach Stake Center and Recreational Golf Course. They were married and sealed for time and eternity on September 28, 1973, in the Los Angeles Temple. They lived in Ventura, California where Harold was employed by Shell Oil Company on the Taylor Ranch. They spent their retirement years living in St. George Utah. 

Glenda was an exceptional homemaker. She embraced the calling of motherhood with dedication and love and created a beautiful home for their family of four sons. She was a wonderful cook and a skilled seamstress taught by her mother. She accepted many service opportunities with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the community. She loved being involved in Church leadership, music, the Relief Society, and the Primary. She also enjoyed serving in her community with the arts program in Ojai, California, and St. George, Utah.

Glenda's children knew their mother loved them. She never wavered in her faith in Jesus Christ. Her love and commitment to her family is a reminder of the eternal nature of families. Her example will be remembered and cherished. Glenda was preceded in death by her husband Harold of 27 years in 1997, as well as her son Nathan Todd Hacker in 1995 (buried in Panguitch, Utah). She is survived by her three sons: Alexander Joel (Jill) Hacker, Adam Cole (Tiffany) Hacker, and Ethan Glen Hacker. Glenda is the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd, St George, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the mortuary. 

Interment will be in the St. George Cemetery, 650 East Tabernacle Drive, St. Geroge, Utah.
