Sally's Earthly Walk

Ms. Glenda "Sally" Mathis began her journey on September 17, 1958, in Warrenton, Georgia, born to the late Mr. Raymond and Mrs. Alice Walker Mathis. On the evening of Monday, January 26, 2026, Sally transitioned from this life at Piedmont-Augusta Hospital. We find comfort in knowing her sunset was peaceful, occurring at 4:30 p.m.

Sally Led a Life of Faith and Simple Pleasures

At an early age, Sally joined the Millrock Missionary Baptist Church in Warrenton, where she lifted her voice in the choir. She was a woman who found beauty in the world around her; before her health declined, she was often found tending to her garden, casting a line while fishing, or preparing a meal for those she loved. Her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit were the threads that held her family tree together.

Sally is Reunited in Glory with Loved Ones

Sally was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Sarah and Molly Mathis; four brothers, Larry, Joe, Harold, and Milton Mathis; and four nieces, Salonda Grant, Kathy Moss, Linda Mathis, and Marlow Mathis.

Sally Leaves Behind Precious Memories

Her legacy of love lives on through that knew her well: a devoted partner, Moses Lee McGahee of Thomson, GA, a great friend who was like a husband to her; five brothers, Elbert Mathis, Goody Mathis, and George Mathis (Cathy Moss), all of Thomson, GA, Fred (Blanche) Mathis of Warrenton, GA and Floyd Mathis of Augusta, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her presence in their lives.
