Glenn G. Durmann, age 77, died peacefully early Wednesday, April 9, 2025, while in the care of Ohio’s Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia, following a brief illness.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was a son of the late George and Florence Durmann. Following his graduation from Farmingdale High School, New York, Glenn obtained a Bachelor of English from Wittenberg University and a Juris Doctor degree from the Ohio State University.
In 1981, he made Tuscarawas County his home where he later became a trusted counselor to his clients at the former KPLD law firm in New Philadelphia. Following his retirement, Glenn enjoyed working on his family farm and spending the winter months with friends in Nevada.
Glenn had a lifelong interest in many subjects, and he encouraged this curiosity and love for learning in his children. He was known for his keen sense of humor and dry wit.
He is survived by his wife, Loraine Brainerd Durmann; their daughter, Lesley (husband, Nick); sister, Roberta (Paul) MacLean; a grandson; and two nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by a son, Russell Durmann.
A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held at a later date. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation care.
The family requests that contributions in Glenn’s name be directed to Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
