Sheila Kaye Ruth, age 63, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, while in the care of Ohio’s Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.
She was born on September 17, 1962, in Dover, Ohio, to the late Harry and Betty (Long) Ruth.
A 1981 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Sheila was known for her strong spirit, love of family, and deep loyalty to her favorite sports teams, the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.
Sheila is survived by her son, Shawn Patterson of New Philadelphia; her granddaughters, Sophia and Sierra Patterson; her five siblings: Sue (Chris) Busby of Uhrichsville, Floyd (Luanne) Ruth of New Philadelphia, Annette Ruth of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, Brenda (Eric) Dehn of Napoleon, Ohio, and Paula Ruth of Dover, and many nieces and nephews.
She also leaves behind two very special friends, Rayla Hill and Lori Henning, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
A Celebration of Life honoring Sheila’s life will be held at a later date. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling arrangements.
