Geib Funeral Center & CrematoryMarlene Kay Singhaus, age 91, of Dover, died peacefully Thursday, February 10, 2026, while in the care of Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.
A daughter of the late James M. and Thelma (Warner) Nagle, Marlene was born on September 17, 1934 at New Philadelphia. At a young age, Marlene was cared for by her grandmother, Mrs. Anna Warner, during an illness of her mother and remained in her care for several years to follow.
In 1952, Marlene graduated from New Philadelphia High School and on March 30, 1957, married Charles W. Harris. The couple raised two children and shared in 24 years of marriage prior to his death in June of 1981.
In 1999, Marlene married Charles Gordon “Gordy” Singhaus. Together, the couple enjoyed traveling, sight-seeing, and taking cruises, especially enjoying trips to the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.
For many years, Marlene was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church at New Philadelphia and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 222. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading novels and magazines.
During her children’s younger years, Marlene stayed home to care for her family but prior to their arrival, she was employed by Marr-Knapp-and Crawfis Architects of New Philadelphia; a job she greatly enjoyed and kept for a period of time, having been given the opportunity to complete work for the firm from home. She also worked for a number of years for Berea Oil & Gas, Marlowe’s Pharmacy and the local JCPenney stores.
Marlene is survived by her family which includes two children, Leslie J. Harris Vassar of Clyde, Ohio and Steven C. (Cathy) Harris of Massillon, Ohio; two step-children, Elizabeth (Gary) Robinson of Evansville, Indiana and Bill (Barb) Singhaus of Atwood Lake.
Completing the family are four grandchildren, Erin (John) Severt, Emilie (Billy) Diehm, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Wiser and Ryan (Rachel) Harris; four step-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, with an expected great-grandchild due in April.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Marlene was preceded in death by her second husband, Gordy, on November 7, 2011.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, February 22, 2026, one hour prior to services, from 1:00 -2:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Pastor Joe Svancara will lead a memorial service celebrating Marlene’s life beginning at 2 PM.
