Raymond Eugene Dauterman, age 82, of New Philadelphia, passed away suddenly on February 4, 2026, at his home due to health-related issues.
He was born in New Philadelphia on November 10, 1943 to the late Sylvia I. (Morris) Dauterman and the late Raymond Earl “Dutch” Dauterman. Ray was a 1961 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and spent his entire career working at Union Camp.
Ray was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather—a truly good dad and husband who deeply loved his family. He married Mary Beth (Starn) Dauterman, on October 25, 1964.
An avid bowler, Ray achieved the rare accomplishment of two perfect 300 games and one 299 game, a source of great pride. He also enjoyed golfing and spending time with his beloved dog and best friend, Diesel, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Beth Dauterman; his children, Kim (Blake) Bailey, Tim (Lynn) Dauterman, and Todd (Sandy) Dauterman; and his grandchildren, Kyle (Emily) Bailey, Tyler (Alex) Bailey, Bridget (Tyler) Miller, Tiffany (Mike) Dauterman, Zach Shaw, and Hunter Dauterman.
Ray was blessed with many great-grandchildren: Oakley, Bodee, Murphy, Grady, and Hadley Bailey; Wyatt and Wren Miller; Lincoln and Beckham Stefanini; Greyson Shaw; and Ava McCafferly.
He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Tom Starn and Robert (Ida) Starn; his sister-in-law, Joanne Spitler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Hodkinson, his brother Jon Dauterman, and brothers-in-law Jerry Spitler and Jim Starn.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m., officiated by Brian Flood. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia.
