Glenn F. Foldie of Bay City formerly of Clio, age 79, passed away on September 1, 2023 at Bickford Assisted Living in Saginaw, Michigan. Glenn was born on October 22, 1943 in Bay City to the late Martin and Thurza (Baldwin) Foldie. He Graduated from Visitation High School before attending Central Michigan University on a football scholarship where he was educated as a teacher. After many devoted years as the High School advanced math and computer science teacher at Beecher High School Glenn retired. He spent time coaching football and wrestling while teaching at Beecher. He also helped coach skiing at Grayling High School.
Glenn was an outdoor enthusiast with a love of golf, fishing, hunting and downhill skiing. He enjoyed deer hunting; riffle and bow, perch and fly fishing. He took a road trip to fish in Alaska and made several road trips to enjoy spring break skiing in Colorado. Glenn's passion for teaching went beyond the classroom. Through the years, he taught most of his family and countless others how to downhill ski, coached many about fishing and where the hot fishing spots were on the Saginaw Bay. Glenn also was a fly fishing guide on self made float boats on the Au Sable River with his good friend, Mike Weiland, who was his partner in many adventures. Glenn was a man with many friends and thoroughly loved his time spent with them, whether it was golfing, fishing, road trips or having fish fries and wild game dinners, those were included in some of his favorite memories.
Glenn is survived by family who also enjoyed the times they had with him, sisters: Judy (Jerry) DeCarlo, Mary (Bob) Sodano, Kay (Chris) Kabacinski; nieces and nephews: Chris Foldie, Dawn (Mike) LeFevre, Nichole Foldie, Heather (Larry) Doan, April (Jason) Hartsig, Luke DeCarlo, Dominic (Stacey) DeCarlo, Martin Kabacinski, Matthew (Kelsey Dukaj) Kabacinski, Sarah (Daxton Lim) Sodano, Michael Sodano; ten great-nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Lee Martin Foldie and sister, Sally Foldie.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 8, 2023 at Our Lady of Peace Parish - St. Marys Church. Fr. John Sarge will celebrate. Friends and family may gather for visitation from 3:00 -8:00 PM Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Squires Funeral Home. A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM. Honoring Glenn's wishes, cremation will follow. His final resting place will be Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin.
