Glenn E. Gebhardt, age 84, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born March 6, 1940, in St. Louis, son of the late Earl and Beatrice (Getz) Gebhardt.
On May 26, 1962, in St. Louis, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Shirley (Hammersmith) Gebhardt. Together, they shared sixty-two years of marriage.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624 in Sunrise Beach.
Glenn was a music teacher and manager of Nottelmann Music Company in St. Louis for over forty-five years.
He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie where he was active in the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th Degree.
Glenn had a passion for music, playing in a band in his younger years. He was also an accomplished accordion player. He served as a board member for the Ozark Jazz Society for many years.
He enjoyed living at the lake, spending time on the water boating, fishing and riding jet skis with his grandchildren. Most of all, he loved his family and treasured the time he spent with them.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his children, Ken Gebhardt and wife Jamie of Cornelius, North Carolina, David G. Gebhardt of Winona, Minnesota and Linda Seitzer and husband David of Greenville, South Carolina; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Susan Gebhardt Gardner and husband Dennis of Williamsburg, Virginia and many other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 27th, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie with Celebrant Father John Schmitz. Graveside services and interment with full military honors will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church with a rosary beginning at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Patrick Catholic Church or to the National Shrine of Mary, Mother of the Church.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
