Mary Hamlett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home - Versailles Chapel on Feb. 3, 2026.
Mary Hamlett, age 86, of Versailles, passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born August 31, 1939, in Jefferson City, Missouri, daughter of the late Guy and Edith (Wolfe) Hovis.

On May 27, 1961, in Jefferson City, she was united in marriage to Gerald E. Hamlett, who preceded her in death on May 29, 2025.

Mary worked for the state of Missouri in the workman's compensation division from 1957 to 1965. She was also the co-owner of Office Business Equipment in Versailles with her husband, Gerald. She served as secretary of the TOPS club in Laurie for many years.

A faithful member of the United Pentecostal Church, she loved serving through music, playing the organ and singing. Her faith was central to her life and she found peace and strength in reading her Bible for hours. She also took pride in mowing and caring for her lawn and loved staying active by exercising and walking.

She lived her life with purpose, guided by her faith and love for others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones and rejoicing in her eternal home.

She is survived by her daughters, Melodie Reineke and Darla Palmer and husband Terry all of Versailles, Missouri; grandson, Nathaniel Reineke; great-grandson, Luca Reineke and many friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Hovis.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 6th, at the United Pentecostal Church in Versailles with Pastor Tim Stafford officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m., Friday, at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to UPCI Global Missions.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
