James Madden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tyler M. Woods Funeral Director from Mar. 18 to Mar. 19, 2026.
Mr. James "Jim" E. Madden, 63 , Versailles, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026 at SSM St. Mary's Hospital. He was born January 13, 1963 in Kansas City, KS., a son of the late James E. and Betty (Dawson) Madden. On May 23, 1998 he was united in marriage to Angela Stark who survives at their home.

Jim was known for his sharp intellect and quick wit. A natural jokester, always introducing himself as Jim, G-E-M. He enjoyed making others laugh and never passed up the opportunity for a sarcastic remark.

Much of his life was devoted to his faith and church community. He spent many years involved in local churches, often leading worship, feeding the homeless or guiding Bible studies, sharing his love of scripture, fellowship and worship with others.

Throughout his life, Jim worked in many roles that brought his life purpose and fulfillment. He was a master plumber, spent time remodeling homes, and later became a certified nursing assistant together with his wife. Unfortunately, later in life he became disabled due to chronic health issues and was unable to work.

Even when he could no longer work physically, his mind remained active. He'd typically be up in the early morning, coffee in hand, reading a book or studying whatever topic had captured his interest from the Bible to History and just about anything in between. He always had a deep curiosity for learning. Thoughtful conversations were some of his greatest enjoyments, and those who knew him appreciated his engaging mind and the lively discussions he inspired.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years: Angela; son: Jesse; daughter: Clarissa and her spouse Taylor; granddaughter: Arianan; and three sisters.

He was preceded in death by many loved ones and friends.

Per Jim's wishes there will be no formal services.

Arrangements for Mr. Madden are under the direction of TYLER M. WOODS FUNERAL DIRECTOR, 611 E. Capitol Ave. Jefferson City, Missouri 65101. (573) 636-2424.
