Glenn M. Guthrie

Services for Glenn M. Guthrie, 87, of Flint will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Chaplain Chase Smith officiating and special music provided by Rick and Connor McElmurry. Burial will follow with a family only graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler with Elizabeth Guthrie and Meghann Guthrie officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Guthrie passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023 in Jacksonville. He was born June 1, 1935 in Tyler to Maxey Guthrie and Laura Crow Guthrie.
He graduated from Tyler High School and then served in the United States Navy as a Navy medic on the USS Shangri La. He received a BS in Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin and practiced as a pharmacist for 50 years. He owned and managed Craig Pharmacy and Homecare in Tyler for several decades. He was an avid reader who enjoyed sailing, country western dancing, and working outside.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Maxey Guthrie and Laura Crow Guthrie, as well as his siblings, Ron Selman and Marilyn Paris.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 33 years Elizabeth Guthrie; sons, Scott Guthrie of Hideaway Lake and Grant Guthrie of Austin; daughters, Meghann Guthrie of Dallas and Tisha Clinkenbeard of Schulenberg and Rebecca Parker of Rathdrum, Idaho. He had seven grandchildren: Nicholas Pierce, Chris Clinkenbeard, Corey Clinkenbeard, Chase Clinkenbeard, Lauren Clinkenbeard, Erin Upshaw, and Alice Upshaw.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Francis, Scott Guthrie, Grant Guthrie, Michael Upshaw, Scott Cassel, Rick McElmurry, and Bruce Mark. Honorary pallbearer will be George Francis.
Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler.
