Glenn L. Haught, age 76, of Navarre, went to join his wife Ursula on February 16, 2025, after an extended illness at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center. Born in Canton, Ohio, on November 5, 1948, he was the son of the late Verl and Ellen (Phillips) Haught “Tilkey”.
Glenn honorably served his country as an equipment operator chief EOC in the United States Navy for 23 years, retiring in 1990. A proud Vietnam War veteran, he was awarded the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Combat Action Ribbon, and the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat. He served with distinction in the United States Navy Seabees, whose motto is "We Build, We Fight."
Following his military retirement, Glenn continued his dedication to hard work as a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers Local #18, retiring after 43 years of service.
Glenn was actively involved in numerous organizations, including VFW Post #5047 in Navarre, American Legion Post #440 in North Industry (where he also served as Commander), Navy Seabee Veterans Island X-5 in Akron, past State Commander, and the McKinley Lodge #431 F & AM, Scottish Rite of Canton, Al Koran Shrine, and Nazir Grotto.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his step-dad Bernard Tilkey, and also his beloved wife of 50 years, Ursula J. (White) Haught
Glenn's legacy lives on through his daughters, Jennifer (Dustin) Wissinger and Rebecca (Shane) Viland; grandchildren, Makayla (Johnny) Sheline, Brody, and Nora; brother, Fred Haught; and stepsister, Linda (Randy) Gooden.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at a visitation on Monday, February 24th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, February 25th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home, 4041 Cleveland Ave S, Canton, OH 44707. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 25th at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Eric Foster, with interment to follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Glenn’s honor can be made to VFW Post #5047, 6680 Woodland Hill Rd SW, Navarre, OH 44662.
