G. Fred Jones, age 91, of East Sparta, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Aultman Hospital. He was born on February 11, 1935, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, to the late Glen Frederick and Emma Esther Ebert.
Fred spent his early years in Pennsylvania and graduated from Farrell High School in 1953. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Penn State University and later received his advanced master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. Fred dedicated 40 years of service to The Timken Company, retiring in 1997 after a long and respected career.
Whenever he had the opportunity to return to Pennsylvania, Fred enjoyed fly fishing and trout fishing. He especially cherished sharing his love of fishing with his entire family. Above all else, Fred put his family first and treasured the time they spent together.
He leaves to cherish his memory his longtime partner, Vicki L. Jacoby; his son, Keith Jones; his daughter, Traci (Mike) Simmons; extended family member, Stacy (Brian) Soehnlen; his grandchildren, Kyle, Connor, Blake, Kennedy, Taylor, Dillon, and Lewey; and his great-grandson, Axton; Fred also leaves behind his fur babies Cinnamon and Shiloh.
In keeping with Fred’s wishes, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In his memory, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or by spending time with someone in need, honoring the kindness and love he shared throughout his life.
