Glenn Allen Payne, 69, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on February 9, 2024. He was born on August 19, 1954, in Effingham, Illinois, to Arlene Hurford and the late Maurice Payne. Glenn proudly served in the United States Navy from April 27, 1972, to February 18, 1975, achieving the rank of E-3 Navy Seaman.
Glenn was a hardworking individual who dedicated much of his life to the oil field industry and operated his own mechanic shop for many years. He later moved to Wichita, Kansas, where he worked as a truck driver for PPJ until his health issues forced him to retire. Glenn was known for his love of working on cars and spending quality time with his family and friends.
On August 21, 1981, Glenn met the love of his life, Sybil Payne (Sandoval), in Dalhart, Texas. They married on June 2, 2001, and shared many cherished moments together. Glenn took great pride in his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed hosting summer BBQs and holiday gatherings, creating lasting memories with his loved ones.
Glenn will be deeply missed by his wife, Sybil Payne; his mother, Arlene Hurford; his sons, Ernest Sandoval (Carmen), Bobby Allison (Hanna); his daughters, Jennifer Sandoval (Andre), Carrie Christman (Dwight), Amy Landreth, and his brother, Fred Payne (Mary); his sisters, Terry Lacey (Ed), Marilyn Perry, Ramona Allison and Angela Payne. He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Payne, brother Donnie Payne, and sisters Audrey Yingst and Alice Gutierrez. He also has 12 grandkids and several great-grandkids that will miss him as well as nieces and nephews and lots of friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 16, 2024, at 1808 E Stafford in Wichita, Kansas. A Funeral and Burial service will take place on June 7, 2024, in Old Ft Dodge City at the VA Cemetery.
Glenn Allen Payne will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his love for working on cars. His legacy will live on through the cherished memories he leaves behind.
