Rosemary Sakis was born Mary Barbara Sakis to Tony and Amelia (Fisher) Sakis on August 3, 1943 and died on July 13, 2025 at Medicalodge of Goddard. She was 81 years old.

She was the oldest of eight children and the oldest grandchild of Emil and Clara (Buscher) Fisher, who were blessed with 64 more grandchildren, the youngest born in 1981. Mary Barbara was raised in Garden Plain and went to St Anthony's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Garden Plain High School in 1961. In the Fall of 1961, she started college at Sacred Heart College (now Newman University) while living at home. She entered the Precious Blood Convent (now known as the Adorers of the Blood of Christ) in September of 1962, choosing the name Sister Rosemary. She got her BA from Sacred Heart College in 1966. She taught 1st grade at St Edwards in Carlsbad, New Mexico from 1966-1969. From 1969-1972 she taught Music and Religion at St Mary's in David City, Nebraska. From 1972-1975 she taught Music and Religion at All Saints in Wichita, Kansas. From 1975 to 1979 she lived back at the convent and worked on Music composition and arranging while obtaining her Masters in Music Theory and Composition from Wichita State University in 1977. From 1979-1981 she worked in Parish Ministry at St Columba in Conception, Missouri. In 1981-1982 she lived back at the convent. In 1982-1983 she lived at a property on Denmark Street in Wichita that the convent owned and substitute taught in various schools including Christ the King. In 1983-1987 she was back at the convent and was the director of liturgy and worked on composition. She left the Convent in the late 1980s but retained the name Rosemary because of her many published hymns and other music she had composed. She moved to the Dallas, Texas area and taught in various public schools for years. After retirement, she moved to an apartment in Goddard across from Medicalodge.

She enjoyed volunteering at Holy Spirit Catholic School in Goddard. Rosemary moved into Medicalodge of Goddard in early 2015.

I first met Sister Rosemary on Thanksgiving Day in 1977 at a family reunion in the old school house by Lake Afton. She was so full on energy
playing the piano singing with smiles and tons of cousins singing around her. She looked over at me and said, "Come on, everybody sings." She was full of love and kindness and the perfect gift of music. A true angel on earth. It has been a blessing to have joined that family. Rest in God's Loving Embrace Rosemary.

What a fireball of creative energy She had a sense of humor. I believe there may have been a Fr Pimple. She´d call out to whomever was going to encounter him: "Please give him a little squeeze for me. "
