Glenn Michael Waldrop, age 51, of Taylorsville, North Carolina, went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, North Carolina. Born on July 18, 1974, he was the son of his late father, Glenn Ray Waldrop, and Vivian Iris McCurry Waldrop.
Glenn grew up valuing hard work, family, and community. He was known for his dedication to his job as a Fire Alarm Service manager as it was a business that he managed from home. He had an unwavering love for the Dallas Cowboys and the sport of football, and he cherished time spent outdoors, whether grilling out, enjoying the sunshine, or simply being with the people he loved.
Glenn's greatest joy came from being a father. He coached his son in grade school, showing up with encouragement, enthusiasm, and the kind of guidance that left a lasting impression on the kids he mentored. He was a devoted Metallica fan, the kind who knew every song and never missed the chance to turn up the volume. Glenn also enjoyed unwinding with his PlayStation, where friendly competition and laughter filled many evenings. He loved gathering for meals at Apple City Barbecue, a favorite spot where he shared good food and even better company. Glenn also shared a special bond with his daughter, Megan. From the time she was little, he embraced every part of fatherhood with her-never hesitating to sit on the floor and play dolls, pour imaginary tea into tiny plastic cups, or wear a pretend crown if it meant making her smile. Those moments became some of his most cherished memories, the kind that reflected the softer side of his heart. He spoiled her in the best ways-whether that meant surprise outings, spontaneous dinners, or simply showing up when she needed him most. Taking her out to eat was one of his favorite things to do, and he loved watching her grow, laugh, and become the woman she is today. Their bond was built on love, laughter, and the kind of devotion only a father and daughter can share.
In his later years, Glenn found a different kind of joy-one that lit up his entire world. Becoming a grandfather brought him happiness he had never known before. His grandson was his pride, his spark, and the bright spot in every day. Those closest to him will remember how his face softened and his eyes shone whenever he spoke about him. One might even say that his grandson fueled his last years with a joy that could not be measured.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amanda Bartram Waldrop, who passed away on June 1, 2019, and by his sister, Angela Waldrop.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Devin (Hayleigh) Waldrop of Taylorsville, NC; his daughter, Megan (Daniel) Waldrop of Lexington, NC; his brother, Jamie Waldrop of Morganton, NC; his grandson, who was his pride and joy, Callum Waldrop; cousins: Lisa Snyder of Marion, NC, Kenny Waldrop, Joey Waldrop, and Trudy McCurry; Glenn is also survived by extended family and friends who will remember him for his warmth, work ethic, and generosity.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 15th, 2025, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and loved ones one hour prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Pastor Jerry Shelton will be officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Dulaney Cemetery in
Burnsville, NC.
