Glenna Kay Pullen, age 72, passed away peacefully at CHI Health Mercy in Council Bluffs, IA on October 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Glenna was born on November 20, 1952, to the late Harold and Vernal Henriksen in Harlan, IA, growing up on a farm outside Harlan. When she was in high school the family moved into the town of Harlan after her father retired from farming.
Glenna graduated from Harlan Community Schools in 1971 and then attended Jennie Edmundson School of Nursing, graduating in 1975.
Glenna met the love of her life, Terry, in 1974 and they married in December of that year. After marrying they moved to Macedonia, IA where she resided for the rest of her life. She helped Terry on the farm and was a registered nurse in multiple care centers over the years. She retired from nursing in 2018. She truly enjoyed caring for others and always put others before herself.
Glenna was always an active church member, most recently at Macedonia Community Church.
Glenna & Terry were blessed with two children. Drew, born in 1982 and Mitchell, born in 1992. They were the light of her life and always kept her on her toes with their antics. Glenna kept Terry in line for 50 wonderful years.
During those years Glenna loved traveling and meeting new people. She particularly enjoyed traveling to their house in Harlingen, TX to avoid the cold Iowa winters. She also loved playing cards, attending her grandkids' school and sporting events, and most of all, visiting with friends and family at any chance. Glenna always made sure that you felt welcome. She looked out for everyone, whether it was making sure you got something you like to eat, that you got enough candy at the annual Easter egg hunt or that the grandkids got a little spending money from Grandpa's wallet.
Glenna is survived by her husband, Terry; son & daughter-in-law, Drew & Katie (Elkhorn, NE) and son, Mitchell (Omaha, NE); grandchildren, Claire & Dawson; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.
Glenna taught her family how to love well, laugh often and care for each other. We are sure that Glenna had quite the reunion with family in Heaven and getting them caught up on all the news on loved ones.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Macedonia Community Church of Iowa on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM AT Macedonia Community Church of Iowa on Monday, October 27, 2025. The family suggests memorials to Macedonia Community Church of Iowa.
