Mrs. Glenna Michelle Ginn Shumate, age 55, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, passed away Monday afternoon, August 11, 2025, at her residence.

She was born October 22, 1969, in Portsmouth, Ohio. Glenna was the daughter of the late Mitchell Glenn Swimm and Patricia Ann Ginn, both of Vanceburg.

For many years, Glenna was employed by the Lewis County school system. She ran several gas stations later in her life.

Glenna had quite the artist ability. Whether she was drawing, painting, creating t-shirt designs, or doing photography, she loved art and creativity.

Glenna was also an avid sports fan. She played basketball and softball in her school years. As an adult, she enjoyed coaching girls basketball. She also loved playing golf, shooting pool, and watching NFL and college basketball.

Traveling with her husband was something she always looked forward to. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Whether you knew her from working at the school or gas stations, as a coach, on the green or the billiards table, she'd always greet you with a smile. She was an angel on Earth, and to have known her is our honor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by one sister, April DeAnn Davis, one nephew, Jordan Andrew Dyer, her maternal grandmother, Peggy Ginn Ruark, whom she considered a second mom, and a son-in-law, Bradley Barker.

Glenna is survived by her loving husband of six years, Todd Shumate; two daughters, Brittany Lewis of Vanceburg, Kentucky, and Kirsten (Ronnie) Chinn of Emerson, Kentucky; one son, Michael Lewis of Vanceburg, Kentucky; five step-sons, Jason (Gabby) Shumate of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jeremy Ames of Garrison, Kentucky, Derek Shumate, Rory Shumate, and Ryder Shumate, all of Vanceburg, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Emberlee Chinn, who she affectionately called "Lemmy Drop", and Kenzie Jo Chinn; five step-grandchildren, Sebastian Shumate, Blaze Shumate, Sierra Shumate, Seth Shumate, and Alison Ames; and one brother, Dean Allen Davis of Morehead, Kentucky; an uncle, Carl (Lisa) Ginn and an aunt, Marsha Ruark who she was raised with and considered more like a brother and sister; one special mother-in-law, Freda "Momma Freda" Shumate; and many, many more family and friends who will sadly miss her.

Visitation for all of her friends will be Friday morning, August 15, 2025, from 10:00a to noon at Dickerson Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 12:00p noon at Dickerson, with Brother Sam Parks and Brother Tommy Parks officiating. Glenna will be laid to rest beside her mother, sister, and nephew in Lewis County Memory Gardens in Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Carl Ginn, Dean Allen Davis, Ronnie Chinn, Dalton Ginn, Rory Shumate, and Ryder Shumate will serve as pallbearers.

Following her burial, a dinner will be held at the VFW in Vanceburg until 4:00p for family and friends to enjoy.

Dickerson Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Glenna Michelle Ginn Shumate.
