Mrs. Glennda Darlene Lawson, age 69 of Benton, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Glennda was a woman full of heart, humor, and devotion. In her younger years, she loved riding horses, a passion that led her to the Bossier Parish Riding Club where she found the love of her life, Weyland Lawson in 1976. The two were married the following year and shared a lifetime of love and laughter.
Though she once rode horses, Glennda’s greatest joy in life was her daughter and grandchildren. She was her daughter’s biggest cheerleader in everything she did and rarely missed a moment to be involved. Whether following her daughter to rodeos or cheering on her grandkids in their 4-H club events, Glennda’s support never wavered. Her family was truly her world.
Professionally, Glennda dedicated her compassion and strength to helping others. She worked at the YWCA as a Sexual Assault Director for three parishes, where she made an enduring impact on countless lives. True to her nature, she was always more concerned about others than herself, even worrying about her husband being alone while she herself was in the hospital.
Glennda was known by many names, Nanny, Aunt Dar, Glennda, or Darlene. But as those who knew her well would say, if you called her Darlene, you’d better be ready to run! Her quick wit, strong spirit, and deep love for her family made her unforgettable.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Victor Sample and Gwendolyn Blanchard and her brothers, Eddie Sample and Mike Sample.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of 48 years, Weyland Lawson; her beloved daughter, Tanya Bearden and husband Rolen; her cherished grandchildren, Reed Bearden and wife Selina, and Alexis Bearden; her precious great-grandson, John Thomas Bearden, many nieces, nephews, cousins and best friends.
A graveside service for Mrs. Glennda will be held at Lay Cemetery in Benton, Louisiana, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home, in Bossier City, Louisiana.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Willis Knighton Bossier ER, Bossier Parish EMS, Dr. Wetzel, and Dr. San Pedro for his years of care and compassion.
Glennda’s life was one of love, service, and laughter, a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
