Glennetta Ann Downey, age 70, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on October 23, 2025.
Born in Casper, Wyoming, on December 21, 1954, to Paula and George Downey, Glennetta spent most of her life in Loveland, Colorado, where she dedicated many years to serving others through her work in nursing homes. Her kind heart, generous spirit, and fiery resilience were evident to all who knew her.
Glennetta had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found fishing, camping and gardening-activities she cherished and shared with many throughout her life. She was also a talented cook and baker, known for her delicious treats, especially her famous Christmas fudge. She shared her fresh garden vegetables joyfully along with her canned items. Her home was always festive, as she joyfully decorated for every holiday with care and creativity. Glennetta loved her precious pets over the years with fish, a cockatiel, cats and dogs. Her dog Misty was her joy and was with her for numerous fishing and camping outings. Her Chihuahua Magic saw her through the most recent years.
She had a passion for collecting pigs, owls, and lighthouses, with her pig collection being especially memorable and filled with unique pieces that brought smiles to those who saw them.
Glennetta is preceded in death by her parents, Paula and George Downey, and her eldest son, Edward Estes.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharla Younce of Denver, Colorado; her son, Rusty Estes (Stephanie) of Grand Junction, Colorado; her grandchildren Micheal Estes, John Valdez, Keanna Estes, and Trennan Estes; her great-granddaughter, Lennox Estes; four sisters; three brothers; numerous nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
Glennetta will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the joy she brought to others. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be on November 8th at 12:30 at the Backbone Event Center at 1720 Glade Rd, Loveland, CO 80538
