Glenora H. Faupel, 75, of Bedford, died on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Pennknoll Village. She was born on September 14, 1949 in Cumberland, MD, a daughter of the late Glenn Richard and Verna Ruth (Lewis) Hansrote. On June 11, 1967 at the Centerville United Methodist Church, she married Wayne C. Faupel, her husband of 57 years, and he preceded her in death on January 9, 2024. She is survived by two children: Jessica M. Faupel-Badger and husband John of Germantown, MD: and Adam C. Faupel and wife Julie of Schellsburg; and five grandchildren: Lauren and Valerie Badger, Joseph, Trinity, and Zander Faupel. She was preceded in death by a sister, Penny Schnably.

She was a 1967 graduate of Bedford High School where she was inducted into the Hall of Excellence in 2020. She became a legal secretary to Ellis Van Horn Jr. and William H. Snyder Sr. and Jr. Glenora was a pioneer for women in Bedford County by standing up to both political parties of the county and running as an unendorsed Democratic Candidate for the Office of Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts in 1987 and becoming the first woman in the modern era to achieve county-wide office. She served in that office for twelve years and was the County Commissioner from 2004 to 2008.

Glenora was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church and was also very active in the early years of the Bedford County Players by creating costumes for various plays and was a devoted friend of Harry and Priscilla Gardner. She was a former Worthy Matron of Shawnee Chapter #41 Order of the Eastern Star and President of the Bedford Business and Professional Women (BPW), where she was the first woman from Bedford to serve the organization at a state level as the District Director for District 5 for BPW/PA, and a member of and on the Board of Directors of various professional organizations including the American Cancer Society and the Center for Community Action. For her civic spirit and leadership, she was named Woman of the Year from Bedford BPW in 1995 and received a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives presented to her by the Honorable Dick L. Hess. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to many. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Pennknoll Village and Grane Hospice.
