Gloria Ann Plis "Carley" Batho

Gloria Ann (Carley) Plis Batho, age 94, of Rudyard, Michigan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Hearthside Assisted Living in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born on February 1, 1932, in Sault Ste. Marie, to William and Gertrude (Townsend) Carley.

Gloria married Stanley Plis on December 29, 1951, and they shared many years together before he preceded her in death in 1978. She later found love again and married Mike Batho in 1984.

Gloria loved the Lord and faithfully served Him throughout her life. She was a devoted prayer warrior and a member of First Church of Christ in Sault Ste. Marie. She belonged to the Christian Women's Fellowship, where she joyfully used her talents decorating tables for gatherings and events.

Gloria loved cats, and her most recent companion was named Carley. She was an avid bird watcher and took great pride in her beautiful flower gardens. Sunflowers were her favorite.

Gloria is survived by her children, Valli (Tom) Lawlor of Rudyard, Crystal (Daniel) Petersen of Dafter, Michigan, Christine (Eddy) Clark of Fort Valley, Georgia, and Stanley Plis of Bushnell, Florida; grandchildren, Daniel (Debra) Petersen, Danielle (Jamie) LeBlanc, Thomas (Alicia) Lawlor, Trevor Lawlor, Jennifer (Jason) Winter, and Megan (Jake) Mitchem; great-grandchildren, Jake Willis, Emily Willis, John Winter, Oaklynn Willis, Kodie Kate Willis, and Gator Mitchem; and her sisters, Carol Plouff and Sharon Lawrence.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husbands, Stanley Plis and Michael Batho; parents, William and Gertrude; brothers, Bob Carley, Elmer (Isabelle), Harold Plouff, and Wayne (Mona); and her brothers-in-law, Harold Plouff and Don Lawrence.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of White Wiles Home, Star VanDusan, the caregivers at Hearthside Assisted Living for their compassionate care, as well as McLaren RN Shana Beyer and CNA Tina Proctor for their love and dedication to Gloria.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 10:00 AM. to 11:00 AM. at Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. The Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gloria's honor to Chippewa County Animal Shelter, 3660 South Mackinac Trail, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.

Gloria's final resting place will be at Donaldson Cemetery in Dafter, Michigan.
